The young Belgian producer Wim Van Gelder (°1981) began producing back in 2000, after listening to trance music for 6 years. He started with his alias 'Lightworks', which got well known across the Internet. He also experimented with harder trance (as ‘Infinite Streams’) and chill trance (as ‘The Angel Of Light’), being inspired by many examples in the scene as well as outside trance music.
He got his first release 4 years later with his new alias 'Icone', as a remix for Hemstock & Jennings. This remix got things to go faster and faster, and soon his first releases were a fact. 'Sorrow' (remixed by Hemstock & Jennings) and 'Astra' (remix by Alex Morph as 'Arc In The Sky') were born. These two little gems have already been supported by some big DJ's from around the globe (Armin, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten and others) and have continued to set the name for 'Icone' in the scene.
With his recent 'Van Gelder' alter ego, he deviates from his regular 'Icone' guise - which a lot of people have come to know across various Internet boards and websites to more solid and harder sounding productions. With 'Blue Manta' on the other hand, he focuses on the softer edge, whilst keeping up the uplifting/epic feel. With ‘The Elemental’ he focuses on different drums patterns and bassy sounds and effects, yet keeping epic/uplifting vibes in his tracks.
Thoroughly fascinated by the sound of trance music and supported by his friends and family, he assures there'll be plenty more to come...
